Applications in Treatment Processes Wastewater Flocculation and Sedimentation Before the steel plant wastewater enters the sedimentation tank, it usually passes through a coarse particle separation device to remove large suspended impurities, and then enters the sedimentation tank. In the open ditch of the sedimentation tank, a pH adjuster is added to adjust the pH value of the wastewater to an appropriate range. Then, anionic polyacrylamide is added to make the suspended solids and scaling substances in the wastewater flocculate and precipitate together, solving the problem of wastewater clarification. Sludge Dewatering The sludge generated in steel plants usually contains a large amount of water and needs to be dewatered for subsequent disposal and utilization. Cationic polyacrylamide is commonly used in sludge dewatering. Its positively charged groups can bind to the negatively charged particles and organic matter in the sludge, neutralizing the charges and causing the sludge particles to agglomerate into clusters. Meanwhile, through the adsorption bridging effect, larger flocs are further formed, improving the dewatering performance of the sludge. This facilitates the solid-liquid separation through equipment such as filter presses and centrifuges, reducing the water content of the sludge.
